
Parliament is scheduled to meet from August 18 to 21, Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera has stated.
Business for the next Parliament sitting week was approved at a meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business held under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
Each sitting day will begin with Parliamentary business from 9.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., followed by Questions for Oral Answers from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. Questions under Standing Order 27(2) will be taken up from 11.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., the Department of Communication of Parliament said.
On August 18, MPs will debate from 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. the Regulations published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2496/38 under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act.
The National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka (Incorporation) Bill, a Private Member’s Bill, is scheduled to be referred to the Legislative Standing Committee following its Second Reading at 5.00 p.m. An Opposition Adjournment Motion will then be debated until 5.30 p.m.
On August 19, Parliament will debate a Resolution under the Finance Act from 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., followed by Questions at the Adjournment Time.
Meanwhile, on August 20, the House will take up the Second Reading of the Employment of Women, Young Persons and Children (Amendment) Bill from 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. An Opposition Adjournment Motion will follow.
On August 21, MPs will debate a Government-moved Adjournment Motion from 11.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., the Department of Communication of Parliament noted.
