
A total of 90,695 dengue cases and 65 dengue-related deaths have been recorded in Sri Lanka so far in 2026, according to the latest data released by the National Dengue Control Unit.
Accordingly, the case fatality rate stands at 0.07%, with 5,348 cases reported in August up to midnight on August 11.
July recorded the highest monthly number of cases so far this year, with 29,973 cases, followed by June with 21,533 cases.
Gampaha District has reported the highest number of cases at 19,291, accounting for 21.27% of the national total. Colombo follows with 18,050 cases, or 19.90%, the National Dengue Control Unit highlighted.
Meanwhile, 119 high-risk MOH areas have been identified by officials.
The figures are based on surveillance data for 2026 released by the National Dengue Control Unit.
