India reach 460/9 at stumps on rain-affected day two in Galle

India reached 460 for nine at stumps on day two of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, with Devdutt Padikkal’s superb 167 anchoring the visitors’ innings.

 

Padikkal, who resumed the day unbeaten on 131, went on to make 167, while KL Rahul scored 82 and Dhruv Jurel contributed 51 as India built a formidable first-innings total.

 

Sri Lanka fought back strongly in the latter part of the day, with spinner Prabath Jayasuriya claiming four wickets for 109 runs. Debutant Keshara Nuwantha also impressed, finishing the day with three wickets for 175 runs.

 

At stumps, Kuldeep Yadav was unbeaten on 12, with Prasidh Krishna on one, leaving India one wicket away from being bowled out.

 

Day two was affected by rain, with play delayed earlier in the day before the match resumed at Galle.
