Four bus drivers have been taken into police custody following a drug screening operation conducted at the Tangalle town bus stand.
Police said two of the drivers are employed by private bus operators, while the other two are drivers attached to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB).
The screening was jointly carried out by officers from the Tangalle Police Traffic Division, officials of the Road Passenger Transport Authority and officers from the National Transport Medical Institute.
According to authorities, urine sample tests conducted on the drivers indicated that all four had used drugs.
Further action is expected to be taken against the drivers following the test results.
