
Sri Lanka reached 84 for four at stumps on Day Four of the first Test against India at the Galle International Cricket Stadium today (18), leaving the hosts needing a further 288 runs to reach their winning target of 372.
Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva remained unbeaten on 31, while Sonal Dinusha was not out on 25 when play ended.
Sri Lanka were set a target of 372 after India were dismissed for 193 in their second innings. India had earlier made 462 in the first innings, while Sri Lanka were bowled out for 284, giving India a first-innings lead of 178 runs.
The hosts lost four wickets during their chase but Dhananjaya and Dinusha steadied the innings to keep Sri Lanka's hopes alive heading into the final day.
Sri Lanka will resume on the final day with six wickets in hand and 288 runs required for victory.
