Sri Lanka’s dengue death toll rises to 71

The number of dengue-related deaths reported in Sri Lanka has risen to 71 as of today (20), according to the latest figures released by the National Dengue Control Unit.

 

A total of 93,115 dengue cases have been identified across the country since the beginning of the year.

 

Meanwhile, 7,777 dengue cases have been reported during the period that has elapsed in August alone, the National Dengue Control Unit noted.

 

The highest number of dengue cases has been reported from the Gampaha District, with 19,825 cases recorded so far this year.

 

The Colombo District has reported 18,475 cases, while Kandy has recorded 6,726 cases.

 

A further 6,066 cases have been reported from Matara, while Kalutara has recorded 6,013 cases, the National Dengue Control Unit added.
