
Further information has emerged during the interrogation of organized crime suspect Kankanamage Dimuthu Chathuranga Perera, alias “Summitpura Chathu,” who is currently in the custody of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) under a detention order.
According to information provided by the suspect, investigating officers yesterday (21) recovered a revolver-type firearm, suspected to be manufactured in Sri Lanka, which had been concealed inside a deserted house in the Sedawatta area of Wellampitiya.
The 28-year-old suspect, who had fled Sri Lanka and was hiding in Oman, was arrested there and brought back to Sri Lanka on August 18.
Following his return, the CCD obtained a detention order and commenced an extensive interrogation of the suspect.
During earlier interrogations of the suspect, the CCD recovered a revolver and 12 live rounds of ammunition, believed to have been brought into the country from abroad, which had been concealed inside a house in the Mattakkuliya area.
Colombo Crimes Division is conducting further investigations into the matter.
