New Vice-Chancellor appointed to University of Kelaniya

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Professor N.D. Fernando as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

 

The letter of appointment was formally presented to Professor Fernando by Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (22), according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

 

Professor N.D. Fernando previously served as Chairman of the People’s Bank and has until now, served as a Professor in the Department of Finance at the University of Kelaniya.

 

The appointment will take effect from 24 August 2026
