A suspect has been arrested with a stock of cannabis prepared for transportation during a special raid conducted at the Mau Ara Reservoir, in Monaragala.

 

Police said they seized 1,044 kilograms and 180 grams of cannabis during the raid.

 

The estimated street value of the seized cannabis is approximately Rs. 73.78 million, according to police.

 

Meanwhile, police also raided a cannabis cultivation covering approximately 1.5 acres in the same area and arrested another suspect along with 54,096 cannabis plants.

 

The raids were conducted under the instructions and direction of the Director of the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit, and under the supervision of the Officer-in-Charge of the unit.
