Two arrested over theft of construction equipment worth Rs. 1.2 million
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of construction equipment worth approximately Rs. 1.2 million, which had been brought to a two-storey house under construction in the Tekkawatta area of Kamburugoda.
According to police, the stolen items included window and door frames, bathroom fittings and handrails.
The suspects had allegedly entered the house, stolen the equipment and taken the items to their homes. Some of the stolen goods were later recovered after they had been sold at low prices.
The two suspects are residents of the same area and are scheduled to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Bandaragama Police.
