India dominate as Sri Lanka stumble to 8/2 at SSC

Sri Lanka ended the second day of the second Test against India in deep trouble, reaching 8 for 2 after three overs at the SSC in Colombo, still trailing India by 495 runs.

 

Opener Lahiru Udara was dismissed for just one, while nightwatchman Prabath Jayasuriya fell for two. Kamil Mishara remained unbeaten on five at the close of play.

 

India's Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar claimed a wicket each as Sri Lanka struggled in the brief final session.

 

Earlier, India declared their first innings at a commanding 503 for 9. Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on a superb 115, while Devdutt Padikkal made 117 and Rishabh Pant contributed 63.

 

For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 106, while Prabath Jayasuriya took 2 for 132 and Keshara Nuwantha claimed 2 for 154.

 

India hold a commanding advantage heading into the third day, with Sri Lanka facing a massive task to stay in the contest.
