Sonal Dinusha once again proved to be Sri Lanka’s standout performer, remaining unbeaten on 85 as Sri Lanka closed Day Three of the second and final Test against India at 265 for 8 at the SSC.

Today’s innings by Dinusha adds to an impressive series for the young left-hander, who has repeatedly shown composure and resilience under pressure. His unbeaten 85 has kept Sri Lanka’s hopes alive after India posted a commanding 503 for 9 declared in their first innings.

Pasindu Sooriyabandara also made a crucial contribution with 80, while Lahiru Kumara was unbeaten on 8 at stumps.

Sri Lanka still trail India by 238 runs, with 83.4 overs completed in their first innings.

India, after opting to bat first, piled up 503 for 9 before declaring. Devdutt Padikkal led the scoring with 117, while Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 115.

But the spotlight once again belonged to Dinusha.

The 85 not out was another statement innings from a batter who has become increasingly important to Sri Lanka during the series. His ability to absorb pressure and occupy the crease has provided Sri Lanka with much-needed stability against a strong Indian attack.

With Dinusha still unbeaten, Sri Lanka will resume on Day Four hoping he can complete another memorable innings and help reduce the deficit.
