Third Randoli Perahera of Kandy Esala Festival parades the streets

The third Randoli Perahera of the Kandy Esala Maha Perahera Festival is currently making its way through the streets of Kandy.

 

The procession commenced at the auspicious time of 6.53 p.m. today (25).

 

The honour of carrying the sacred relic casket during tonight’s procession has been bestowed upon Sinha Raja, the majestic tusker.

 

The Randoli Perahera is one of the most significant and colourful events of the annual Kandy Esala Maha Perahera, drawing large crowds of devotees and spectators to the hill capital.

 

A special traffic and security plan is in place throughout the Kandy Perahera period.
