
The All-Island Canteen Owners’ Association has decided to increase the prices of flour-based short eats, including parata and egg roti, by Rs. 5.
The association has also decided to increase the price of a string hopper by Re. 1 and a hopper by Rs. 2.
The decision was taken following moves by Prima and Serendib companies to increase the price of a kilogram of wheat flour by Rs. 17, effective from today.
Meanwhile, the Central Committee of the All-Island Bakery Owners’ Association is scheduled to meet next Monday to discuss the increase in wheat flour prices.
The President of the association, N.K. Jayawardena, stated that a decision on price increases for bread and other bakery products will be taken at the meeting.
