Police said one of the victims was a 15-year-old child.

A cab travelling towards Sapugaskanda on the Biyagama-Sapugaskanda Road near Samurdhi Mawatha reportedly had veered off the road after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The cab collided with two children who were walking along the left side of the road. Both children had sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Kiribathgoda Hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was a 15-year-old resident of Gonawala, police said.

The cab driver has been arrested, and Sapugaskanda Police are conducting further investigations.

Meanwhile, another accident had occurred on the Galle-Colombo Road in the Egodamulla area within the Ahungalla Police Division, when a private bus travelling towards Galle collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road.

The pedestrian, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was a 50-year-old resident of Egodamulla, police said.

In the third accident, a lorry travelling towards Kantale on the Trincomalee-Ambeppussa Road near the 179-kilometre post in the Thambalagamuwa Police Division collided with a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and succumbed on admission to the Kantale Hospital.

The deceased was a 24-year-old resident of the Thambalagamuwa area, according to police.
