The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) and the Government Dental Surgeons’ Association (GDSA) have decided to jointly oppose the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.
The two professional associations have also decided to work together with other relevant professional organizations, including the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), in expressing their opposition to the proposed amendment.
The proposed 22nd Amendment has drawn opposition from several professional and civil society groups, particularly over provisions relating to the extension of the mandatory retirement age of Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judges.
The GMOA and Dental Surgeons’ Association are expected to coordinate with other professional organizations in determining further action against the proposed constitutional amendment.
