Ex- Hambantota Mayor Eraj Fernando found dead in Bambalapitiya

Former Mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council, Eraj Ravindra Fernando, was found dead at a flat in Bambalapitiya, police said.
According to police, his body was reportedly found hanging inside the flat, with the incident suspected to be a suicide.
He was 57 years old at the time of his death.
Fernando contested under the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and was elected Mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council in 2014.
In 2018, he was re-elected as Mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council with the support of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
