A total of 294,132 students applied for the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and of these, only 289,867 applicants sat for the examination, according to the Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage.
Meanwhile, around 56,000 candidates have scored above the cut-off mark in the exam, she said.
