Although dengue cases are currently being reported at a relatively low level, the risk of the disease has not completely subsided, the National Dengue Control Unit says.
Community Physician Dr. Prashila Samaraweera made the remarks while speaking at a media briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau.
She urged the general public to remain vigilant and pay close attention to places within their premises where dengue mosquitoes could breed.
Dr. Samaraweera noted that in some districts, an increase in the mosquito population is observed first, followed by a rise in the number of dengue cases.
