Indonesia is battling massive wildfires, with some of the blazes continuing to burn for weeks as toxic smoke spreads across the region.
Millions of people in Sumatra and Kalimantan, the Indonesian part of Borneo island, have been exposed to hazardous haze generated by the fires, BBC reported.
Smoke and haze from the Indonesian wildfires have also been reported in other parts of the region, including Malaysia and the Philippines.
Thousands of people in Indonesia have been hospitalized with respiratory infections amid the worsening air quality caused by the fires.
The thick haze blanketing parts of the country has also complicated efforts to combat the wildfires. Operations involving cloud-seeding and firefighting aircraft have been hampered by the dense smoke and reduced visibility.
