A 26-year-old pregnant woman has been murdered after being attacked with a sharp weapon in the Palakudawa area of Kalpitiya.

Police said the woman, who sustained injuries in the attack last afternoon (03), was admitted to the Kalpitiya Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased has been identified as a 26-year-old resident of Palakudawa, Kalpitiya, police said.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim had separated from her husband and was living with another man, who allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon following a family dispute that had escalated, police said.
