A 36-year-old man has been arrested by the Kandy Sub-Unit of the Computer Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly sharing nude photographs of a woman on social media.
Police said the suspect was arrested last afternoon (03) in the Ginigathhena area following an investigation launched based on a complaint received by the authorities.
The arrested suspect has been identified as a 36-year-old resident of Ginigathhena, police said.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect had previously been married to the complainant but had legally separated from her before allegedly carrying out the act, police said.
Kandy Sub-Unit of the Computer Crime Investigation Division is conducting further investigations into the incident.
