Kusal Mendis, Binura Fernando ruled out of England T20I Series

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced that Kusal Mendis and Binura Fernando will not take part in the upcoming T20I series against England as both players continue their rehabilitation following injuries sustained during the Lanka Premier League 2026.

 

Mendis is recovering from a right hamstring injury, while Fernando is undergoing rehabilitation for a back injury.

 

Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Panel has made two changes to the T20I squad, with Pavan Rathnayake named as Mendis’ replacement and Dilshan Madushanka replacing Fernando.

 

In the absence of Mendis, Charith Asalanka will captain the Sri Lankan team during the T20I series against England.
