MP Namal Rajapaksa arrested by Bribery Commission

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

 

The Bribery Commission had summoned Rajapaksa this morning to provide a statement in connection with investigations into the controversial Airbus deal.

 

MP Namal Rajapaksa, the eldest son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, appeared before the Bribery Commission earlier today (04) after being informed in writing to appear before the commission this morning.

 

He was subsequently arrested by CIABOC after recording his statement for over 5 hours.
