
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Uva, Central and Eastern provinces and in Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu districts after 2.00 p.m. today (05), the Department of Meteorology said.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places, the Met. Department stated.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, the sun is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during August 28 to September 07 due to its apparent southward relative motion.
The nearest places of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today are Moratuwa, Kesbewa, Handapangoda, Idalgashinna, Yudhaganawa, Kotiyagala and Panama at about 12.08 noon, it added.
