A 17-year-old youth has died after a tractor travelling along the Rambawala tank bund on the Divulwewa-Weligollawa Road overturned and plunged towards the tank.
The accident occurred when the tractor driver lost control while attempting to avoid a cow tied on the tank bund, causing the vehicle to veer off the bund and flip into the tank, police said.
Three individuals, including the driver of the tractor who sustained severe injuries in the crash, were admitted to the Kahatagasdigiliya Base Hospital.
However, one youth succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The deceased has been identified as a 17-year-old resident of the Weligollewa area, police said.
Divulwewa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
