
The number of deaths caused by dengue fever in Sri Lanka so far this year has risen to 73.
According to the Dengue Control Unit, a total of 96,228 dengue cases have been reported across the island to date.
A total of 737 dengue cases were reported during the first four days of September alone.
According to the latest data, the highest number of dengue cases was recorded in July, with 29,964 cases.
Meanwhile, 21,533 cases were reported in June, 10,155 in August, 8,590 in May, and 7,866 in January.
At provincial level, the Western Province has been the worst affected, accounting for 52.84% of all reported cases, with 50,851 cases.
The Southern Province has recorded 13,950 cases, while 8,818 cases have been reported from the Central Province and 7,925 cases from the Sabaragamuwa Province.
