Ex-President Ranil leads UNP's 80th anniversary celebrations

The 80th anniversary celebration of the United National Party (UNP) was held this morning (06) at the Sirikotha - United National Party Head Office in Pitakotte, under the patronage of former President and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

 

The UNP marks its 80th anniversary today, having been founded on September 6, 1946, by former Prime Minister D.S. Senanayake and several other political leaders.

 

Representatives of several political parties, including the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and United Republic Front, also attended the event as invited guests.

 

The anniversary celebration commenced following the arrival of UNP Leader and former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

 

Meanwhile, the UNP’s main anniversary convention is scheduled to be held in December this year.
