The government is exploring the introduction of new technological tools to strengthen the country’s healthcare system, with particular focus on medical research, development and the management of non-communicable diseases.
The matter was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni and a delegation of leading Indian biotechnology experts.
According to the Ministry of Health, the discussions focused on strengthening health and technological cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.
The meeting also explored ways to introduce advanced technological tools to strengthen Sri Lanka’s medical research and development sector and improve the detection, management and treatment of non-communicable diseases.
Non-communicable diseases remain one of the country’s major health challenges, and the proposed technological initiatives are expected to support efforts to enhance healthcare services and improve patient outcomes.
