The National Disaster Relief Services Centre states that the distribution of drinking water to districts affected by dry weather is continuing without interruption.
The Senior Assistant Secretary of the Centre, Prageeth Danansooriya stated that drinking water distribution is ongoing in the Monaragala, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa, Ampara, Badulla, and Ratnapura districts, which have been affected by dry weather conditions.
He noted that the number of affected persons has increased slightly compared to last week, attributing the rise to inadequate rainfall in these districts.
He further stated that the number of affected persons could continue to increase until the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Danansooriya advised residents in dry-weather-affected areas who have not yet received drinking water, or who are experiencing difficulties with the supply, to inform their respective Grama Niladhari official or Divisional Secretary.
He also stated that the public can report any issues related to drinking water supplies by contacting the National Disaster Relief Services Centre hotline on 0716807807. This will enable the relevant authorities to be informed and take necessary measures to address water supply requirements, he said.
