Venerable Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero has been arrested by the Batticaloa Police.
The monk was arrested in connection with an incident in which he allegedly obstructed the duties of officers at the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau office in Batticaloa.
Following his arrest, Venerable Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero is scheduled to be produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court.
