Visiting Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a “warm and extremely productive” meeting with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Colombo this morning (09), reaffirming the close ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Singh said he conveyed greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Dissanayake and congratulated him on the successful completion of two years of his government.
The Indian Defence Minister said India and Sri Lanka, as “civilisational twins, close neighbours and maritime partners,” would continue to work together for the development of both countries and the welfare of their people.
The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to working jointly to safeguard the safety and security of the region and promote peace and prosperity.
The meeting comes as India and Sri Lanka continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with maritime security and regional stability remaining important areas of their strategic partnership.
