Two Sri Lankan women have been arrested by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for allegedly attempting to smuggle a consignment of ‘Kush’ cannabis with an estimated street value of Rs. 53.72 million.

 

The two suspects, aged 33 and 35, are said to be businesswomen residing in Dematagoda and Thotalanga areas in Colombo, Ada Derana reporter said.

 

They had arrived at the BIA at around 10.55 a.m. today (09) onboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL 403 from Bangkok, Thailand.

 

Officials said the women had concealed approximately 5.372 kilograms of ‘Kush’ cannabis in five airtight packages packed inside two pieces of luggage they had brought with them.

 

The two suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today (09).
