
Newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wei Huaxiang met with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the former President's residence in Colombo this morning (09).
During the meeting, former President Rajapaksa conveyed his warm congratulations to Ambassador Wei on assuming duties as the Ambassador of China to Sri Lanka, following the presentation of his credentials on August 25.
The meeting was also attended by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary, Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam.
During the meeting, Ambassador Wei presented former President Rajapaksa with a special book featuring traditional Chinese paintings, offering an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the richness of Chinese civilisation.
Expressing his gratitude to the Ambassador, the former President recalled the journey the two nations have shared in friendship and strategic partnership while warmly embracing Sri Lankan culture and its people. He also expressed his appreciation for China's continuous support for Sri Lanka.
