A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting and killing of a man in Kotahena on August 10.
Police said the victim was shot while standing in front of a shop on Sangaraja Mawatha by two unidentified individuals who arrived at the scene on a motorcycle.
The Colombo North Division Crime Investigation Bureau launched an investigation into the incident and arrested the suspected motorcycle rider last night (09), based on information received by police.
The suspect, a resident of Mattakkuliya, is alleged to have assisted the gunmen by acting as the rider of the motorcycle used in the shooting.
Police said 12 grams and 470 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) were also recovered from the suspect at the time of his arrest.
The suspect has been handed over to the Kotahena Police, who are conducting further investigations into the shooting.
