Sri Lanka Police state that three police teams have been deployed to investigate a hand grenade attack on a residence in the Sirisangabo Mawatha area, within the Dehiwala Police Division.
According to police, an unidentified individual carried out the hand grenade attack early this morning (11).
A 55-year-old man who sustained serious injuries in the attack, along with his two children, was admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.
Police stated that the two children succumbed to their injuries after being hospitalized. The deceased are two boys, aged 11 and 17.
The injured man is the 55-year-old father of the two deceased children, said police.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the attack or identify the suspects involved.
The three police teams are continuing investigations to identify and arrest those responsible for the incident.
