
A 17-year-old individual who was found stranded on a sandbank in the sea off Talaimannar has been rescued by the Sri Lanka Navy today (11).
According to the Navy, the youth had reportedly travelled from South India by boat.
He was spotted by Sri Lanka naval personnel during a naval patrol conducted by SLNS Thammanna under the North Central Naval Command.
The Navy personnel had rescued the youth and had provided him with humanitarian assistance, including drinking water, food and temporary shelter.
The rescued individual was later handed over to the Talaimannar Police for onward action.
