A wanted suspect allegedly involved in several offences, including breaking and entering into homes and burglaries, has been arrested by the Computer Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Thanamalwila.
According to police, the suspect had broken into a house in the Rajagiriya area and stolen a mobile phone belonging to a woman who was inside the premises. He had reportedly used the stolen phone to record a video of the sleeping woman and forwarded it to contacts saved on the device.
Police stated that the suspect had also fled with Rs. 25,000 stolen from the residence.
Following a complaint lodged with the Welikada Police regarding the incident, the investigation was subsequently handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The suspect was arrested by the CID’s Computer Crime Investigation Division following an investigation into the incident.
