
Abdul Razak Mohamed Basik, the father of alleged large-scale drug trafficker Shiran Basik, has been remanded.
The order was issued after the suspect was produced before Colombo Hulftsdorp (Aluthkade) Magistrate’s Court No. 3 today.
The Magistrate ordered that the suspect be remanded until September 25.
The suspect was arrested yesterday (11) by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB).
The arrest was made in connection with an investigation into the purchase of a luxury apartment valued at around Rs. 30 million in the Gampaha area, registered under his name, allegedly using funds earned by Shiran Basik through drug trafficking activities.
The Central Crime Investigation Bureau arrested the suspect under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in connection with the incident.
