At least four persons have been injured and hospitalised after a container truck plunged down a precipice and toppled onto a house in the Madithale area along the Badulla-Mahiyangana road.
A father and his son who were inside the said house, as well as the truck driver and his assistant, have sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Badulla Teaching Hospital.
Reports indicate that the accident was caused by a brake failure while the truck was travelling from Badulla towards Mahiyangana.
The container truck had reportedly veered off the road, collided with a three-wheeler parked on the roadside before plunging down a precipice approximately 75 feet deep and subsequently toppling onto a house belonging to the Road Development Authority (RDA).
The police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
