
The General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), Tilvin Silva, paid a courtesy visit to the historic Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo 02 and met with the Chief Incumbent of the Temple and Chief Sanghanayaka of the Western Province, Ven. Dr. Kirinde Assaji Nayaka Thero.
During the meeting, Silva highly commended the Gangaramaya Temple for its outstanding contributions towards promoting religious harmony, culture, and national tourism.
He specifically lauded the temple's role in organizing iconic national events such as the annual Navam Maha Perahera and the Vesak Kalapaya, which continue to showcase Sri Lanka's rich heritage to both local devotees and foreign tourists.
Having maintained its position as Colombo's primary tourist destination for over a decade, the Gangaramaya Temple has earned high esteem from both local and foreign state leaders.
The discussion also focused on the proposed "Temple City" development project, aimed at expanding the temple's cultural and community services in the future.
