Suspect arrested with firearm, hand grenade and live ammunition in Kuliyapitiya
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a suspect in possession of a foreign-manufactured 12-bore firearm, a live hand grenade and six live BMG-type rounds of ammunition.
The items were recovered during a search of a residence in the Walakumburumulla area of Kandanegedara yesterday (12), based on information received by a team of officers attached to the Organized Crime Investigation Division of the CID.
The suspect is a 40-year-old resident of Walakumburumulla, Kuliyapitiya, police said.
The Criminal Investigation Department is conducting further investigations into the incident.
