
More than 161,000 people have been affected by the prevailing dry weather conditions across eight districts, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).
The DMC said a total of 49,334 families comprising 161,451 people have been affected across 36 Divisional Secretariat (DS) divisions.
As part of the relief efforts, drinking water has been distributed to 141,312 people from 43,221 families affected by the dry weather, the DMC noted.
The Monaragala District has recorded the highest impact, with drinking water provided to 42,429 people from 13,139 families across eight DS divisions.
Meanwhile, 33,394 people from 11,142 families in the Batticaloa District and 25,413 people from 6,653 families in the Badulla District have also received drinking water.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as dry weather conditions persist in the affected areas.
