The fault has been observed on the traffic signal system controlling traffic travelling towards Kottawa.
The unusual signal pattern has created confusion among motorists and raised fears of a possible road accident, particularly during busy traffic hours.
The issue was brought to the attention of the Maharagama Police by Ada Derana, while the public has also reportedly alerted police to the malfunction.
Motorists in the area have urged the relevant authorities to attend to the faulty traffic lights as soon as possible and take necessary measures to prevent a potential accident.
