India Women posted 183 for 5 from their 20 overs, setting Sri Lanka a target of 184 runs in the Women’s Asia Cup final in Dubai.

Shafali Verma top-scored for India with a blistering 68 off 39 balls, striking nine fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 174.35. She was well supported by Smriti Mandhana, who made 59 off 39 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes.

The opening pair laid the foundation for India’s imposing total before Mandhana was run out by the Dilhari–Kaushini Nuthyangana combination.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur added 14 from 14 balls, while wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh contributed a quick 17 off 13 deliveries.

India’s lower order then provided a late boost, with Gunalan Kamalini smashing an unbeaten 15 off just five balls, including a four and a six. Bharti Fulmali remained unbeaten on two.

For Sri Lanka, Mithali Ayodhya and Chamudi Praboda claimed one wicket each, while captain Chamari Athapaththu also took a wicket.

Praboda conceded 40 runs from her four overs, while Ayodhya finished with one for 33.

Sri Lanka now require 184 runs from 20 overs to lift the Women’s Asia Cup title.
