The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has ordered that a notice be issued to the Director of the Colombo National Hospital, directing him to appear before court on September 22 and explain why the medical reports concerning former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General (Retd.) Suresh Sallay, who is currently hospitalized, were not submitted to the court.
Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued the order after considering a request made by Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, who appeared for the prosecution, when the relevant complaint was taken up today, Ada Derana reporter said.
Meanwhile, the Additional Solicitor General informed the court that Ranjan Senarath Bandara, a Police Inspector who previously served with the State Intelligence Service, is a person required for the ongoing investigations.
He further told the court that there was a risk of Bandara leaving the country and requested that a travel ban be imposed on him.
After considering the request, Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued an order preventing the Police Inspector from leaving the country.
