
Sri Lanka has welcomed more than 1.6 million tourists so far this year, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
According to the report, a total of 1,609,759 tourists arrived in the country between January 1 and September 14.
Meanwhile, 74,637 tourist arrivals were recorded during the first 14 days of September.
India remains the leading source of tourist arrivals so far this year, with 408,024 Indian nationals visiting Sri Lanka.
The figures also show that 155,798 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom, while 105,294 came from China and 94,007 from Germany.
India also recorded the highest number of arrivals during the first 14 days of September, with 22,541 Indian tourists visiting Sri Lanka during the period.
