Police have uncovered more details regarding the shooting incident targeting a three-wheeler driver near the ‘Kalu Palama’ in Dematagoda this evening (17).
The three-wheeler driver, who was injured in the shooting, has succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
The victim was reportedly riding his three-wheeler when he came under gunfire.
CCTV footage has reportedly captured two suspected shooters arriving on a motorcycle shortly before the shooting.
The deceased has been identified as a 50-year-old resident of Galle, police said.
The motive for the shooting and the identities of those involved have not yet been revealed.
Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, with this incident, the number of shooting incidents reported in Sri Lanka so far this year has risen to 38, with 19 people killed and 20 others injured in the incidents.
