The Meteorology Department says showery weather in the South-western parts of the island is likely to increase during the next few days, starting from today (19).
It said that showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya Districts.
Heavy rainfall of about 100 mm is likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts, the department added.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva and Northern provinces and in Batticaloa and Ampara districts after 2.00 p.m.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary, localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
