Sri Lanka’s tourism revenue during the first eight months of this year has declined compared to the corresponding period last year, according to a report released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
The country earned approximately USD 2,290 million in tourism revenue during the first eight months of 2025.
However, tourism revenue during the first eight months of this year amounted to approximately USD 2,061.1 million.
Accordingly, tourism revenue recorded during the first eight months of this year has declined compared to the corresponding period last year.
A total of 1,535,122 tourists visited Sri Lanka between January 1 and August this year, contributing to the recorded tourism revenue.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka earned USD 264.4 million in tourism revenue in August this year.
A total of 191,704 tourists visited the country during the month.
In comparison, Sri Lanka earned USD 258.9 million in tourism revenue in August 2025.
Accordingly, tourism revenue recorded in August this year has increased slightly compared to the corresponding month last year, the Central Bank report stated.
